Old Orchard Beach

Old Orchard Beach voters on Tuesday re-elected two town councilors, chose school board members and approved a bond package.

A total of 1,419 votes were cast, according to Town Clerk Kim McLaughlin.

Incumbents Joseph Thornton and Jay Kelley will return to the Town Council for two-year terms, finishing with 819 and 905 votes, respectively. Challenger John Bird, who is active on town committees, finished with 526 votes.

The Regional School Unit 23 board of directors will include a new face. David Boudreau, a newcomer to Old Orchard Beach politics, edged out incumbent Jerome Plante, 708-637. Incumbent Stuart Hogan finished atop the field with 807 votes.

Residents approved, by a vote of 1,000 to 317, a plan to borrow $857,000 to pay for wastewater treatment facility improvements.
