On Halloween at the Children’s Museum & Theatre of Maine, the children themselves are the exhibits.

This is especially true in years like this one, when Halloween falls on a weekend, said Molly McLaughlin, the museum’s floor supervisor.

“We beefed up our schedule of events this year,” she said. “This is the first time on five years that Halloween has fallen on a weekend.”

An estimated 300 children, plus their parents, attended the annual event, which featured scavenger hunts, arts and crafts and spooky science exhibits, alongside the museum’s daily attractions.

McLaughlin said Halloween is one of the best days of the year at the museum because of the range of costumes. “It’s just the cutest thing ever,” she said. “We have the greatest jobs ever.” McLaughlin added the museum will offer an expanded list of Halloween events in 2016, when Halloween falls on a Sunday.
