“For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
Changing Seasons
Change is in the air. Even in the midst of these hot and steamy late summer days the world is slowly changing around us. The leaves are beginning to drop from the trees, the days and nights are almost equal in length, and the apples are red, ripe, juicy and ready for picking. All the seeds that were planted in the spring have become what they were meant to be, and the harvest is near. The birds do not frequent the birdbath as often as they did. They have raised their families and now it is time to decide what to do with their empty nests. And we are slowly changing as we grow in faith and love of God. Much as Michelangelo cut away all that was not David, God chips away at all that prevents us from becoming what he intends for us to be. We are always under construction, always changing. To reach our true selves can be the process of a lifetime, and much as the caterpillar morphs into a butterfly, we too will one day take flight. We belong to God, and we are his works of art.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
