Peyton presiding over Sunday Service

ORR’S ISLAND — Rev. Linda Peyton will preside over the service Sunday at All Saint’s Chapel, located at 9 Cooper Lane, off Harpswell Islands Road/Route 24 on Orr’s Island. Edgecomb church hosting supper

EDGECOMB — A fund raising supper will be held at the Edgecomb Community Church on Saturday to benefit the Edgecomb Fire Department. Sponsored by the Mission Outreach Committee, it will be held in the wheel chair accessible church fellowship hall. This supper is an annual event to provide community support for the valuable and extremely important work of the Fire Department volunteers.

The menu consists of homemade casseroles, salads, rolls, beverages and desserts. The supper will be served from 5-6 p.m. The charge is $8 for adults and $3 for children under 12.

The thrift shop will open at 4:30 p.m. for browsers who come early.

Christian Science speaker in Belfast

BELFAST — A talk, “Spiritual Discovery: How You Can Better the World,” will take place at the Belfast Free Library 2 p.m., Oct. 10. The speaker will be Tom McElroy from Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts. McElroy has given talks on spirituality throughout the U.S. and Canada, as well as in Europe, Australia, and Africa. After graduating from college, McElroy worked in real estate finance, and at the same time, volunteered as a prison Chaplain where he worked with inmates in men’s, women’s, and youth facilities. Now as a Christian Science practitioner, he prays with people from all over the world in order to help others find spirituallybased solutions to challenges ranging from health and finance issues to relationship difficulties. This talk is sponsored by the First Church of Christ, Scientist in Camden and is free and open to the public. Child care is available.
