Tim Connelly has been singing since he was 7 years old. He has been ministering in gospel as a soloist for the past three years, formerlly singing with Heaven’s Blend Gospel Singers. Celebration of reed organ restoration
WOOLWICH — Day’s Ferry Congregational Church in Woolwich will celebrate the restoration of its historic circa 1890 Wilcox & White “Symphony” reed organ during the worship service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 20. The public is invited to attend. The service will reflect much of the music and liturgical practice of the late 19th century Congregational Church. Retired United Church of Christ minister Allen Myers, of Brooklin, Maine, who spent the last year restoring the organ to its original condition dating back to the 1890s, will also speak. The church has compiled an album of Myers’ photos and commentary documenting the entire restoration.
The church is reaching out to musicians who have played the organ in the past. All attendees will be invited to play the historic organ after the service. Seated yoga at St. Philip’s
WISCASSET — St. Philip’s Church, 12 Hodge St., Wiscasset, is hosting a seated yoga event on Saturday, Sept. 26, at 10 a.m., to benefit Feed Our Scholars. The instructor is Susan Gallagher, a certified yoga instructor. By donation, with all proceeds going to feed children attending Wiscasset Elementary School who are in need of nutritional support on weekends.
