Jabril Mohamud, 30, of Portland was in critical condition Sunday morning at Maine Medical Center where he being treated for injuries in a crash on Interstate 295 near Franklin Street Friday.

Police said Mohamud crashed his four-door Hyundai sedan into another vehicle and then entered the interstate at exit 7, traveling north in the southbound lane before crashing at Tukey’s Bridge. Mohamud was trapped inside the vehicle until rescue crews could free him.

The highway was shut down for three hours.
