Crooked River confusion
Local phone book maps, Google Maps and reporter Ezra Silk are not correct in saying the Crooked River goes to the north shore of Sebago Lake. The Crooked River ends at the Songo Lock where the Songo River and Crooked River meet. The Songo River continues to the north shore.

Sometimes, a thank-you is not enough
After seven years in office, Rep. Mike Shaw, D-Standish, has announced his resignation from the Maine Legislature. Mike has worked long and hard representing all of the people of Standish as well as the people of Maine.
During his time in Augusta, Mr. Shaw and I had several conversations on many subjects. He was always cordial and responsive. I could count on the fact that he was willing to listen and would converse with his counterparts on both sides of every issue. Mike was hard working, open, and always straight-forward. He was not your traditional politician. It was always a pleasure working with him.
At this time we want to say THANK YOU to Mike for his work and sacrifice for the people of Standish. We wish him well in his future endeavors. We also hope and pray for all the best life has to offer for Mike and his family in the coming years.
Will Hamilton, chairman,
Standish Town Republican Committee
