Heat Wave

I promised myself I would not complain about the heat during that horrendous winter we just experienced. I have kept my promise! With all the great lakes around here, it’s not hard to cool off! We are so lucky to have these natural resources at our disposal. Hot? Go jump in the lake. Works every time.

Kite Day Hackers Hill

If you are looking for something fun to do with the kids near Naples, head on over to the picturesque Hackers Hill in Casco for Kite Day sponsored by Casco Recreation and Loon Echo Land Trust. The event is this Friday, Aug. 21, at 1:45 p.m. Kids will be able to create kites and fly them! Let’s hope the wind cooperates. This event is free to Casco residents, and just $5 for all others. Sunday Night Concert Series

The Naples Village Green will host The Mill Town Road Show Band this Sunday at 6 p.m. as part of their Summer Concert Series. This band offers a mix of country and bluegrass music. It’ll be a great way to spend a warm summer evening. Good news is its supposed to get a bit cooler this weekend.

Salem Bus Trip

Halloween Time is the perfect season to visit Salem, Mass., famous for its history of witches. On Saturday, Oct. 24, Dea Dea Robbins is planning one of her fun bus trips so you don’t have to deal with the hassle of driving and parking! The bus leaves the America Legion in Naples on Route 11 at 7 a.m., with a stop to pick up more passengers at the Larrabee Road Park and Ride facility at 7:45 a.m. The cost for the bus ride is $34 per person. You are your own from there to explore Salem. The bus will depart Salem at 5 p.m. This is a popular trip so book your seat early as they are sure to sell out. Contact Dea Dea at 693-3408.

Harvest Supper

I hate to type the word “Harvest,” as that brings to mind fall, but yes, the North Sebago United Methodist Church is holding a Harvest Supper this Saturday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Corned beef will be the main dish. The church is located on Route 114 and Kimball Corner Road.

Naples 5K

The Walk or Run Race will be held Sunday, Aug. 30, at 8 a.m., with a warm up from Fountain of You Fitness at 7:30 a.m. near Bray’s Brew Pub. The fee is just $25 with proceeds going to The Patrick Dempsey Cancer Center and local food pantries. Register today at runsignup.com to be part of the fun.
