Scarborough police have identified the man who drowned Saturday at Pine Point Beach as 56-year-old Scott Ducott of Scarborough.
Rescue crews responded to the popular beach Saturday after receiving a 911 call at 12:05 p.m. that a man had gone underwater.
Bystanders were able to bring Ducott back to shore using a longboard, and the first officer to respond began performing CPR until rescue workers arrived.
After 45 minutes of attempted CPR, however, Ducott could not be revived.
