BRUNSWICK — Robert M. Labbe age 76 of Baribeau Drive died suddenly Monday, Aug. 3, at Mid Coast Hospital.

He was born in Topsham on Aug. 6, 1938, the son of Adelard and Ruth Vigeant Labbe. He attended local schools obtaining his GED after returning from serving two years in the Army.

From 1965-1973 he worked for Jay Brush loading trucks for shipping. For over 27 years Robert worked for Bowdoin College retiring in 2001. He worked for five years in security and then twenty two years with the grounds department. Robert was well known as the Zamboni operator for the ice arena at the college.

Bob was a big hockey and football fan. He enjoyed dancing and he traveled extensively throughout the United States. He was a Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus Sekenger Council #1947 in Brunswick.

Surviving are several cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Arthur J. Labbe who died in 2000.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church,–All Saints Parish 132 McKeen St., Brunswick. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Brunswick.

Donations in his memory may be made to St. John’s Catholic School, 73 Pleasant St., Brunswick, ME 04011.
