HOLLIS — A firefighter was treated for heat exhaustion Monday as firefighters from several communities battled a fire at 260 Plains Road in high temperatures and high humidity.
Fire Chief Jason Johnson in a news release said crews arrived at the home to find the porch completely on fire.
Johnson said the family who lived there and all of their pets were able to get out safely.
Quick action by the responding Hollis fire crew, with help from surrounding departments allowed them to knock down the fire quickly, Johnson said, and added that most of the property was saved. The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
Assisting Hollis Fire Department were firefighters from Buxton, Standish, Limington, Limerick, Goodwin’s Mills and Waterboro. The fire was reported at about 4:15 p.m. Monday.
