MCH Teddy Bear Bake Sale is Aug. 6

BRUNSWICK — Teddy bears for young patients in trauma at Mid Coast Hospital are the focus for the public summer bake sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday. Aug. 6, in the Café Corridor, sponsored by the 54 junior volunteers donating their time at the hospital. The hospital is at 123 Medical Center Drive.

Sponsored by the Mid Coast Hospital Auxiliary, the Teddy Bear Club provides stuffed animals to young patients who may be having a painful time in getting their care, but often react favorably when a new “friend” is given to them. Organizations, including school children, from the entire Mid-coast community donate to the program throughout the year, which requires about 150 stuffed animals a month.

For many years, junior volunteers and their families have provided the baked goods for the sale, which could include pies, cakes, cupcakes, cookies of all kinds, breads, whoopie pies, and many other special items. Donations of baked goods are willingly accepted and may be taken to the MCH Volunteer Office, next to the Gift Shop at the main entrance, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 5. Juniors will package the baked goods and tie with ribbons for gift giving.
