Traveling show

The Southern Maine Performing Arts Collaborative at Schoolhouse Arts presents a traveling production of “Edges,” Friday, July 31 through Sunday, Aug. 2.

Performances will be at Westbrook High School at 7:30 p.m., on Friday, July 31; Bonny Eagle High School at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 1; and Saint Ann’s Episcopal Church in Windham at 4:30 p.m.??, Sunday, Aug. 2

The cast features performances by Elsa Alexandrin, Georgia Baber, Bailey Daigle, Bridget Daigle, Olivia Esty, Anna Giroux, Emily Heatley, Katie Lind, Kaitlin McGinley, Jeff McNally, Kyah Morrissette, Miles Obrey, Matt Scala, Rachel Scala, and Ashleigh St. Pierre.??

The show is co-directed by Dillon Bates and Janelle LoSciuto with musical direction by Betty McIntyre.?? Tickets available at the door are $12; and $10, students and seniors. For more information, contact LoSciuto at 831-4113.

Dance center open house

Drouin Dance Center is holding open houses for its upcoming 2015-2016 class season on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 5-7 p.m., and Thursday Aug. 20, from 5-7 p.m., and at its facility in the Dana Warp Mill, 90 Bridge St., in Westbrook.

The open houses will include light refreshments, tours of the 9,000-square-foot facility and dance activities. Prospective and current students can meet instructors, register for dance classes and purchase dancewear needed for the dance classes.

Classes are offered in ballet, tap, jazz, hip-hop, musical theater, lyrical, modern, creative movement, Irish step dance, Zumba, and more, for beginner through advanced levels and all ages. Classes range from six-week sessions to school-year programs, summer classes and summer camps, and many various special events throughout the year. UMF dean’s list

Six Westbrook students have been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Maine at Farmington.

They are Haley Berry, Gunnar Heckler, Jasmine Heckler, Julianne McLaughlin, Tyler Michaud, and Nicholas Minor.?

Santiago earns degree

Megan Santiago of Westbrook was awarded a master’s degree during commencement exercises this spring at UMass Lowell in Lowell, Mass. Santiago received a master of business administration degree.

Holmes attends clerks’ institute

Westbrook City Clerk Angela Holmes recently completed her first year of studies at the New England Municipal Clerks’ Institute at Plymouth State University in New Hampshire.

This first year is for clerks who have not previously attended an institute, an announcement said. It offers an introductory course in public administration with interactive classes on communication skills, decision-making, management theory, inter-government relations and procedures, and media and written communications.

Clerks in year one experience practical lessons in general and theoretical courses.

The New England Municipal Clerks Institute is a three-year program, which assists clerks in developing and maintaining the high level of administrative expertise needed for the successful operation of increasingly complex municipal governments. Completion of the three-year Institute program entitles graduates to apply for the International Institute of Municipal Clerks’ Certified Municipal Clerk (CMC) designation.

Allstate honors Giraulo

As a business leader and involved resident in the Westbrook area, Allstate agency owner Carlo Giraulo of the Carlo Giraulo Agency has been designated an Allstate Premier Agency for 2015. The Allstate Premier Agency designation is bestowed upon 48 percent of Allstate’s nearly 10,000 agency owners across the country. Donna Griglock, a member of the museum’s Education Committee and a docent, is the puppeteer. Recommended ages are 4 and up. Admission per child is $5; $20, maximum per family.
