The University of Maine will offer free live video streams of all its home athletic events during the 2015-16 season, the school announced Thursday.
Streams for men’s ice hockey, football and women’s ice hockey, previously available for a fee, will now be free of charge. Streaming for other sports will continue to be available for free through AmericaEast.TV.
“We have Black Bear fans in every state of the country as well as Canada and overseas,” said Karlton Creech, UMaine’s athletic director. “We are thrilled to share the excitement of home games with all of Black Bear Nation and hope it will lead to further support at our games.”
UMaine football plays Rhode Island in its home opener on Sept. 26. The men’s hockey team opens its home schedule at Alfond Arena on Oct. 23 against New Brunswick, and the women’s hockey team plays defending Hockey East champion Boston University in its home opener on Oct. 4.
• UMaine also announced its 2015-16 men’s basketball nonconference schedule, which includes games at UConn, Marquette and Boston College.

Their first home game will be Nov. 25 against Longwood at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.
