Dyer joins Raber insurance agency

Carrie Dyer has joined the Michelle Raber State Farm Insurance Agency as an account representative. The agency is located at 696 U.S. Route 1 in Scarborough.

A graduate of the University of Maine/Farmington in secondary social science education and history, her interest in education is a valuable asset, Raber says, in helping clients become more knowledgeable about their insurance needs.

Dyer and her husband, Jon, and daughter, Addyson, reside in Brunswick. She worked in the hospitality industry for the last 10 years, most recently at the Inn By The Sea in Cape Elizabeth. But, Dyer says insurance is very familiar. Her grandmother had her own agency, Bradbury Insurance Agency, in Madison.

In announcing the appointment, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland also said that Msg. Paul Stefanko, who has been serving as the parish vicar since 1999, would be the new pastor at St. Joseph Parish, which covers several communities from Bridgton to Mechanic Falls.

The Rev. Okozi was raised in a Catholic household in southern Nigeria and was ordained a priest in December 1995. He first served the pygmy population in the Central African Republic and then became an assistant rector and dean of students at a seminary in Nairobi.

In 2004 Okozi was sent on a mission to the United States. During that time he attended Seton Hall University and earned a master’s degree in psychological studies and a doctorate in counseling psychology.

He has been a member of the pastoral ministry in the diocese since 2009, filling in at a number of parishes until 2012 when he was named the part-time parochial vicar at Corpus Christi Parish in Waterville.
