A Sanford man turned himself over to police Saturday morning in connection with a fatal hit-and-run accident in Acton that occurred shortly after midnight.

Cameron White, 20, was arrested and charged with vehicular manslaughter in the crash that killed Kenneth Allen, 50, formerly of Old Orchard Beach, according to York County Sheriff William King.

Allen was struck by an automobile at Willy’s Ale House at 1060 Route 109 at 12:40 a.m. Saturday, King said in a statement.

The vehicle fled the scene, police said.

Two witnesses reported Allen had just left the Ale House and was walking north on Route 109 when he was struck by a small automobile traveling north. The impact caused damage to the passenger side of the vehicle. A mirror from the vehicle was left at the scene.

White surrendered about 9 a.m. Saturday. His 2001 light Blue Dodge Stratus was towed to the sheriff’s office for examination.

White was being held Saturday at the York County Jail on $25,000 bail.

He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance in Alfred next week.
