BATH — Highland Green’s Kevin Carter went all seven innings, while striking out 10, to help lead the visitors to a 6-2 victory over Smith Tobey in American Legion Baseball Zone II play on Tuesday.
Tuesday’s contest was a make-up game from an originally scheduled date of June 22.
Highland Green scored two runs in the third, three in the fourth and one in the sixth, while Smith Tobey notched both runs in the bottom half of the sixth. Of the four hits allowed by Carter, Grant Hefler grabbed two of them, scoring a run in the process, while Daren Wood drilled a two-RBI triple.
Cam Cox was 2-for-3 for Highland, with a double and two RBIs, while teammates Liam Brannigan and Justin Pierce added two hits apiece.
Conlon Ranta went the distance for Smith Tobey, striking out two and walking one.
The two teams will meet again on Thursday at Mt. Ararat High School at 5:45 p.m. Smith Tobey (2-12) is scheduled to face Tri-Town today at 5:45 p.m., while Highland Green (5-9) will receive another win today to improve to 6-9 after a forfeit from Andy Valley.
