The condition of a motorcyclist who was hospitalized after a crash in Freeport Sunday night has been upgraded to fair.
The rider, Jeremy A. Gray, 36, of Brunswick, was headed south on Flying Point Road at 6:41 p.m. when he braked hard, causing his rear tire to skid to the side and into the soft shoulder, said Freeport Police Chief Gerald Schofield. The motorcycle hit a mailbox causing Gray to crash.
Gray was seriously injured and was taken by LifeFlight medical helicopter to Maine Medical Center for treatment. Gray, who was riding alone, was wearing a helmet, police said.
