Joe Apon scored on Tyler Gee’s fifth-inning single Thursday and Andrews Post went on to a 1-0 victory against Libby-Mitchell in a Zone 3 American Legion baseball game.
Apon walked and stole second to put himself in scoring position.
Charlie Barnard of Andrews (5-3) held Libby-Mitchell to five hits and one walk, striking out six.
Jake Gardner of Libby-Mitchell allowed three hits and struck out eight. Gardner also surrendered four walks and hit a batter.
MASSABESIC 7, SACO & BIDDEFORD SAVINGS 6: Noah Eichler’s double into the gap in left-center in the eighth inning drove in Sean Adams as Massabesic downed Saco & Biddeford Savings (6-4) at Biddeford.
Saco & Biddeford forced an extra inning when Casey Twomey tripled in the seventh and then scored on Kerry Crepeau’s sacrifice fly.
Saco & Biddeford overcome a 1-0 deficit with a five-run second; Twomey singled home two runs and scored a third. Massabesic countered with a five-run fifth highlighted by Dawson Renaud’s two-run double. Renaud also scored in the rally.
SACO BAY PT 6, BONANZA OF SANFORD 4: Trevor LaBonte lined an RBI single and Sam Johnson followed with a run-scoring double as Saco Bay PT (8-3) used a five-run fourth inning to take the lead for good and held off Bonanza of Sanford (3-6) at York.
Ian Hovde of Saco Bay PT went 3 for 4 with an RBI and scored twice. LaBonte finished with a pair of hits.
Frank Veino and Keith Kerrigan doubled for Bonanza.
BONNY EAGLE/WINDHAM 10, MOODY’S COLLISION CENTERS 2: Bonny Eagle/Windham (5-5) used a seven-run fourth inning to take the lead and beat Moody’s Collision Centers (5-3) at Gorham.
Anton Haskell had three singles for Bonny Eagle, Spencer Hinge and Drake Laughlin each had a double and single, and Max Salevsky added two hits.
MORRILL SWEEPS GRAY-GREELY: Henry Curran and Jacob Brown scored the tying and go-ahead runs as Morrill Post (6-2) scored six times in the seventh inning to overtake Gray-Greely (5-4) for a 9-5 victory and a sweep at South Portland. Morrill won the opener, 13-4.
Sam Troiano started the winning rally with a triple. Curran’s bunt single drove in Troiano before Curran and Brown scored when Drew Abrahamson’s grounder was thrown away.
Brad Sowerby stroked a two-run single and also scored as Morrill broke a 2-2 tie in the first game with a six-run second. Troiano added a three-run homer in the fourth to make it 13-4.
JUNIOR LEGION
OA-YARMOUTH 6, CAPE ELIZABETH 5: Jack Snyder knocked an RBI single to spark a three-run sixth inning as OA-Yarmouth (3-9) won at Cape Elizabeth.
Snyder went 2 for 3.
