Brian Dumoulin of Biddeford signed a two-year $1.6 million contract to remain with the Pittsburgh Penguins, the team announced Thursday.
Dumoulin, a 23-year-old defenseman, spent most of the 2014-15 season with Wilkes-Barre Scranton of the American Hockey League, finishing with four goals, 29 assists and a plus-25 rating in 62 games. He also played eight regular-season games for Pittsburgh and scored his first NHL goal Dec. 15 against Tampa Bay. Dumoulin appeared in all five playoff games during Pittsburgh’s first-round loss to the New York Rangers.
Defensively, Dumoulin helped Wilkes-Barre/Scranton lead the AHL in goals against each of the past three seasons.
