On Thursday, June 25, the Good Shepherd Food Bank goes mobile in the town of Standish. Families and individuals who are in need and would like to visit the mobile food bank are only required to bring their own bags and boxes in order to collect the meat, dairy, breads, fresh produce, canned fruits and vegetables, pastas, jarred sauces, and other packaged items that will be made available.

Last year, Good Shepherd’s mobile pantry racked up some miles while making nearly 160 stops to cover every county in the state to deliver a total of 840,000 pounds of food to Maine communities.

Due to the magnitude of their mission, the Good Shepherd Food Bank depends on volunteers to make the mobile program successful. Helpers are therefore needed to assist with setting up outside the Standish Town Office (175 Northeast Road) and distributing food from 5-6:30 p.m., or as supplies last, on June 25. Interested parties are encouraged to contact mgerrish@sjcme.edu for more information on how to get involved.
