TOPSHAM — A fundraiser for the Logan Sweet Foundation will be held Friday at the Orion Performance Arts Center during the musical production “13, a Musical” as part of the organization’s ongoing effort to raise awareness about Myocarditis.

The fundraiser is happening in conjunction with the musical production of 13, a story about a 13 year old boy who struggles with the stress and challenges of moving into a new town.

The show starts at 7 p.m. Friday. The show is presented by Studio 48 in Brunswick, which is dedicating the show to Logan Sweet, who would have been 13 this year. Sweet, of Bowdoinham, died on May 9, 2008 from Viral Myocarditis at age 6. His parents created a foundation in his memory.

The foundation’s mission is to raise funds and awareness of Viral Myocarditis, and to promote good health and eating habits as well as emphasize the importance of living a healthy and active lifestyle.

Outside the theater in the foyer, the Logan Sweet Foundation will be set up with auction tables, t-shirt sales, a bake sale, and posters with stories of other children and young adults who have died from or are still struggling with Myocarditis.

The foyer will be open for auction bids and sales before the show starts and during intermission. The auction will end minutes after the show ends so that people may walk away with their winnings.
