Selectman, SAD 6 budget on ballot
Buxton voters on Tuesday, June 9, will fill several uncontested town positions and weigh whether to approve local referendums including the Maine School Administrative District 6 budget, up nearly $1 million.
Polls will be open on Election Day 6 a.m.-8 p.m. at Buxton Town Hall, 185 Portland Road. At 5:30 a.m., a moderator will be elected to conduct the annual town meeting to be held at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 13.
Chad Poitras, 35, is running unopposed for a three-year term on the five-member Board of Selectman.
Maine School Administrative District 6 is asking voters to validate its recommended $46,572,207 school budget, which is up $949,657 from $45,622,550. As one of the five towns in the school district, Buxton would be responsible for paying $6,609,537 that includes adult education, according to the district’s finance office on Monday.
The town’s referendum questions in secret balloting on Tuesday and all articles for town meeting on June 13 are available at www.buxton.me.us.
