Music nights move outside
Saturday, June 6, will mark the first of this season’s Open Mic Music Nights outside at Fuego Diablo, 52 Loring Lane in Pownal. Musicians, singers, storytellers, poets and entertainers of all ages and abilities are invited to take the stage at this acoustic. Performers requiring gear should bring their own. Tech for these outdoor events is limited. A signup sheet is available and impromptu collaborations are always welcome. Shows will be held outside, weather permitting. Guests should bring their own seating. In the event of wet weather, the show will be inside, where seating is limited.
Creative world cuisine, including gluten-free and vegetarian friendly, is served from 5:30-6:30 p.m., and music begins at 6:30. The event is free and open to the public. Office hours
The Town Office, at Mallett Hall, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday 8:30 a.m.-6:30 and closed Friday.

The Pownal Board of Selectmen will meet Monday, June 15 and 29, at 7 p.m., in Mallett Hall.
Beans, spaghetti on church menu
The North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road, will host a public baked bean and spaghetti supper on Saturday, June 6, from 4:30-6 p.m. On the menu are three kinds of beans, spaghetti with meat sauce, potato salad, cole slaw, biscuits and brown bread, pickled beets and assorted homemade pies. College honors
Hayley Steckler was named to the dean’s list with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 for the entire year at Muhlenberg College in Pennsylvania. She is a 2014 graduate of Freeport High School and is a resident of Pownal.
Public supper set for June 20
First Parish Congregational Church 422 Hallowell Road, Pownal, will be hosting a baked bean and spaghetti supper, Saturday, June 20, with settings at 5 and 6 p.m. Tickets are $8, $4 for children 5-12 and free for children under 5. To reserve tickets, call Lois at 688-4433.
Food pantry on Wednesdays
The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is now open every Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The pantry never knows from week to week what it will be getting. Fellowship, coffee and snacks are served before food distribution. If any farmers or others would like to donate to the pantry, contact the Rev. Ray St. Pierre, 837-0682, or Deb Larrabee, 240-1637. The church office number is 688-4938. The pantry helps those in need and welcomes everyone.
Men’s breakfast at church
The First Parish Church of Pownal hosts a men’s breakfast the first Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m., open to any men who want to come. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

Prayer, Praise and Worship, with the Rev. Raymond St. Pierre, is held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m., at the North Pownal United Methodist Church, 851 Lawrence Road. For more information, call St. Pierre at 837-0682 or Lay Leader Deb Larrabee at 240-1637.
North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday School for children and adults is at 10:30 a.m.
