Power was knocked out for a couple of hours for 1,581 Central Maine Power customers in  Sanford on Sunday morning.

A power company dispatcher said the 7 a.m. outage was caused by animal contact in a substation at Sanford Industrial Park. The contact damaged a main electrical feeder line.

The power company said workers did some switching to feed power to the area another way. Power was restored to the area at about 9:15 a.m.
