Drug agents and local police arrested two men in Brunswick on charges of heroin trafficking.

Police arrested Melvin Givens, 35 of New York and Nathan Donovan, 33 of Brunswick at the Linnhaven mobile home park on Wednesday.

The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency has been investigating drug sales in Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties and in Brunswick for the past three months. The investigation centered on Givens, who police say was traveling back and forth from New York with large amounts of cocaine and heroin. Givens was staying with Donovan and Donovan’s father, Robert Tardiff, 68. Givens would typically stay at different drug users’ houses to avoid capture, police said.

Police seized 27 grams of heroin, 4.5 grams of cocaine, Suboxone strips, marijuana, a digital scale and other items associated with drug sales, police said. The street value of the seized heroin and cocaine was $5,500.

Both Givens and Donovan are charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin and have been taken to Cumberland County Jail. Givens is being held on $50,000 bail and Donovan’s bail is $25,000.
