Saco police say Route 1 is back open to traffic after a busy stretch near the Tourist Haven Motel was closed for three hours to repair a telephone pole damaged in a car accident.

The single-vehicle accident was reported around 7:35 a.m. in the area of 761 Portland Road, also known as Route 1, and traffic was diverted for about three hours, according to Saco police.

Police say Paul Rizzo, 57, of Dedham, Massachusetts, was driving a black 2009 Ford F350 pickup truck with a trailer when he struck a telephone pole near the Tourist Haven Motel. He was not injured.

Police say Rizzo was not issued any tickets following the accident.

Central Maine Power Co. crews were at the scene to replace a telephone pole damaged in the crash.

Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call Deputy Chief Jeffrey Holland at 282-8216.
