BIDDEFORD — Philip T. Bender, 79, of Biddeford, passed away on Thursday, April 16, 2015 in Biddeford.
He was born in New Jersey, a son of Taite Bender. Philip was educated in local schools and received his Masters in Education.
Philip’s passion was advocating for mental health. He was employed as a mental health counselor for the Shalom House in Portland for many years.
Philip was an avid mountain climber in his early years and continued to hike throughout the years. He had a great love of the outdoors and nature. His favorite place to travel was the White Mountains in New Hampshire. He was an avid reader, especially reading poetry.
He will be sadly missed by his friends.
He is survived by: his sister Ruth Heizer; three nephews; and two grand-nieces.
