A Baldwin man was arrested late Tuesday after leading police on a short car chase and getting stuck in a mud hole in Limington.
At about 8:30 p.m., Sgt. Steven Thistlewood of the York County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a 2000 Ford Explorer with a loud exhaust, but the vehicle took off, according to police. After a three-minute chase through Limington Village, the driver of the SUV left the road in an attempt to elude the officer, said Sheriff William King.
The SUV became stuck in a mud hole, but the driver fled on foot into a beaver bog, King said. Sheriff’s deputies quickly caught up to the driver, who was evaluated by Limerick Rescue before being transported to the York County Jail.
The driver, 47-year-old Stoy Daye, was charged with operating after suspension, failure to stop for a police officer and illegal attachment of registration plates. He is being held on $450 bail and will be arraigned Wednesday.
