According to an official with Maine’s Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, the owl was likely an Eastern screech owl, a type of owl that is not commonly found in Maine.

The owl was released after being removed from its hiding spot in new home construction.
Our ACO was called this morning for an owl that was hiding in some new construction. The crew was concerned because of the activity in the area and needed the owl removed. ACO Leach captured the baby great horned owl, determined that it was uninjured and in good health and released it in a more appropriate location.
