The Saco School Board has appointed Dominic DePatsy as superintendent of the district.

DePatsy will succeed interim Superintendent Mike Pulsifer, who has led the Saco School Department since it split away from Regional School Unit 23 in July 2014.

DePatsy, who has more than 17 years of administrative experience, is currently the superintendent of RSU 53, the district that encompasses Burnham, Detroit and Pittsfield. He was previously the director of instructional support in RSU 5 and worked for the Cape Elizabeth school system, where he was responsible for special education, gifted and talented, Response to Intervention and other programs. Earlier in his career DePatsy was a special education teacher and spent two years with the Department of Education as a due process consultant.

DePatsy will begin working in Saco after Pulsifer steps down on June 30.
