The Sanford area’s only non-essential items non-food pantry, the Corner Cupboard, is open 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the third Saturday of every month. The Corner Cupboard is located at the Sanford UU Church, 5 Lebanon Street, Sanford. The Corner Cupboard’s primary goal is to assist people in meeting their basic needs for living, to increase their quality of life and to fill in the gap for those who are struggling. They work collaboratively with other service agencies in the area and are dedicated to honoring the integrity and worth of all individuals; they do not discriminate based on people’s needs. In addition to non-food household items, the Corner Cupboard offers gently used clothing and household items, as well as educational assistance in areas such as literacy, health, community resources and financial responsibility. All products are subject to availability. For more information please call the church office at 324-3191.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
