A water main break on Route 25 in Westbrook headed toward Gorham on Wednesday is likely to slow the evening commute.

The Portland Water District announced the break shortly after 4 p.m. and said repairs are expected to take until 9 p.m.

The main broke in the area of 275 Conant St. and traffic in that area will be reduced to one lane, the district said.
