Freeport finished second to Yarmouth in the Class B competition of a Maine Drama Festival regional held on Friday and Saturday at Freeport High School.

Yarmouth advances to the state Class B finals, to be held on March 20-21 at Stearns High School in Millinocket. In the Class A regional held at Freeport High, Cape Elizabeth edged out Edward Little to advance to the Class A final.

Freeport placed actors in the All-Festival Cast for the school’s student-written one-act play. Evan Tims and Sarah Watts wrote, and Watts also directed “What Sunlight Doesn’t Touch,” a play about the Holocaust from a German perspective. Watts’ sister Olivia Watts and Maya Pierce made the All-Festival Cast.

Tims, Sarah Watts, Kate Doherty, Anthony Amari, Hannah Morrissey, Christian Potts, Emmett Smith and Callie Toothaker won Judges’ Commendations for Freeport.
