Office hours

The Town Office, at Mallett Hall, is open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Monday 8:30 a.m.-6:30 and closed Friday.

On Thursday, Feb. 26, so that staff can attend training classes, the Town Office will close at 11:30 a.m.

Meetings

A Planning Board workshop has been scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 25, at 8 a.m., in Mallett Hall. The board will continue its ongoing ordinance review/updating.

Selectmen will meet Monday, March 9 and 23, at 7 p.m., in Mallett Hall.

Sign up by Feb. 27 for Art Card Workshop

Fuego Diablo hosts its annual Art Card Workshop on Sunday, March 1, from 1-4 p.m., at 52 Loring Lane in Pownal. During this afternoon of collage and surface design, participants create decoupage cards using a variety of handmade papers, rubber stamps, watercolors, colored pencils and other items. All materials will be provided. Participants are encouraged to bring photographs, or copies of photos, and discarded books/magazines that can be raided for words, phrases and illustrations. Dictionaries, sheet music, atlases and learning language books are great sources for mining ideas.

Pi celebration at Fuego Diablo

Fuego Diablo, 52 Loring Lane, has rescheduled its next music night to March 14, in recognition of International Pi Day. Pi is a mathematical symbol, and March 14, 2015, can be written out 3.14.15, the first five digits of the value of pi. The music night’s menu will all be based on pies – meat pies, veggies pies, American pies, etc. Those who have a deft hand at making pies, especially for dessert pies, are welcome to contribute one.

Performers of all ages and abilities are invited to take the stage at this intimate acoustic venue. A sign-up sheet is available and spontaneous collaborations are encouraged. Performers requiring gear should bring their own. Food is served from 5:30-6:30 p.m., and music begins at 6:30. For more information, see Fuego Diablo’s page on Facebook.

Supper postponed

The North Pownal United Methodist Church pasta supper to benefit the food pantry, scheduled for Saturday, March 7, from 4:30-6 p.m., has been postponed. A new date will be announced.

Men’s breakfast

The First Parish Church of Pownal hosts a men’s breakfast the first Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m., open to any men who want to come. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

Church services

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday School for children and adults is at 10:30 am. All are welcome. The Rev. Raymond St. Pierre is pastor.
