Cumberland County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call of erratic driving/road rage between two vehicles traveling westbound on Route 302 in Casco on Monday at 1:10 p.m.
According to Capt. Don Goulet, one of the two vehicles crashed into the Crooked River at the Casco/Naples line prior to deputies’ arrival.
The three occupants that were in the vehicle that went into the river were able to free themselves and swim to land. They were taken to Bridgton Hospital for minor injuries and hypothermia.
The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured and remained at the scene.
At this time the investigation is being handled as a criminal matter and no additional information is being released. No charges have been filed at this time.
Initial reports indicate a vehicle went into the Crooked River along the Naples/Casco town line on Route 302 early Monday afternoon.
