BRUNSWICK — St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Brunswick will host its third annual Red Cross Blood Drive in its parish Great Hall on Tuesday, Feb. 17, from 1-6 p.m.
Donors are urgently needed due to the extensive winter storms and an ongoing strong demand for blood. Healthy individuals who are at least 16 are eligibility.
Red Cross supplies all of the hospitals in Maine, and all blood is screened prior to being used for transfusions. Approximately an hour is required for evaluation, donation and recovery.
“You can gain satisfaction knowing that you have contributed to saving lives and having the highest appreciation of the recipients,” notes a news release from the church. “About 95 percent of donated blood in Maine is used to help its own residents.”
To register, call the Red Cross at 1-800-733-2767 to make an appointment. Walkins are also welcome and will be served on a firstcome, first-served basis.
St. Paul’s, established in 1844, and its new addition completed in 2004, is located at 27 Pleasant St. Parking is available in the rear of the church off Union Street and on Pleasant Street. Please use the side entrance to the building from the parking lot.
