The Windham Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles in the area of 280 Tandberg Trail in Windham on Tuesday at about 7 p.m.

According to Sgt. William Andrew, the crash involved a 2012 Nissan operated by a 23-year-old from Raymond and a 2010 Chevy operated by 36-year-old female from Windham. Names have not yet been released since next of kin have not been notified.

The 23-year-old was alone in the vehicle at the time of the accident. A total of five people were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries, Andrew said.

The accident is under investigation. It is unknown if alcohol or speed were a factor in the accident. Gray Fire/Rescue and the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene, Andrew said.
