BIDDEFORD — Raymond L. Gendron, 84, of Biddeford, died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Feb. 4, 2015 at the Maine Veterans’ Home in Scarborough.
He was born in Biddeford on Feb. 3, 1931, son of Charles and Annabelle (Collette) Gendron. He was educated in Biddeford schools, graduating from St. Louis High School in 1950.
Raymond served his country in the United States Army being stationed in Wuizburg, Germany.
On June 15, 1957, he married Adrienne Boucher at Notre Dame Church in Saco. Together they shared four loving children.
After his military service, Raymond worked for New England Tel & Tel and AT&T, retiring with 30 years of service. He was acknowledged for his efforts in establishing White House communications at Walker’s Point.
Raymond was a member of St. Andre’s Church. His hobbies were golfing, watching the Red Sox and other sports. He enjoyed traveling and spending his winters in Florida. He loved family life and enjoyed the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by: brothers, Charles Gendron Jr. in 1982, and Normand Gendron in 2012; and a sister, Pauline Gendron in 2010.
Raymond is survived by: his beloved wife, Adrienne Gendron of Biddeford; one son, David Gendron and his wife Denise of Biddeford; three daughters, Patricia Labbe and her husband Michael of Sanford, Donna Simpson and her husband Scott of Biddeford, and Lynn Letourneau and her husband Paul of Saco; eight grandchildren, Melissa Montoya of Biddeford, Amanda Tauro of Saco, Rebecca Fecteau of Biddeford, Craig Gendron of Old Orchard Beach, Benjamin Labbe of Boxborough, Massachusetts, Aaron Labbe of Sanford, Nicholas Simpson of Biddeford, and Skyler Letourneau of Saco; four great-grandchildren, Austin Tauro, Emma Montoya, Jackson Tauro and Sutton Montoya; and one sister, Lorraine Frost of Biddeford.
Visiting hours will be 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 8 at Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday at St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in the spring.
