The buckets of cleaning supplies are given to families as they leave Tedford’s family shelter for their own home.
The project is spearheaded by Churches Working Together, a network of local congregations that includes All Saints Parish, Good Shepherd Lutheran, Pathway Vineyard and St. Paul’s Episcopal churches of Brunswick, and the United Baptist Church of Topsham.
Since 2012, Good Shepherd has donated an average of two or three pails of cleaning supplies to Tedford each month.
Phillips said, “our clients are very limited in their resources so these donations are very helpful to them.” Phillips also noted that the “Bucket Brigade” is just one example of generosity and loyalty of area congregations.
“Churches provide funds, supplies and meals, and many of their members volunteer,” he said. “We are very grateful for everything they do to help Tedford Housing in our work to find lasting solutions to the challenges of homelessness in our communities.”

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
