Drug agents arrested a Westbrook woman Thursday night and seized $25,000 worth of crack cocaine and heroin.
Investigators with the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, the federal Drug Enforcement Administration and the Portland Police Crime Reduction Unit arrested Rachel Rembert, 28, outside a home at 16 Stoneledge Drive in the Rosemont neighborhood of Portland.
One agent recognized Rembert’s car in the driveway and when police sought to arrest Rembert – who has extensive bail conditions from previous arrests and six outstanding arrest warrants – she ran, police said. Police caught her before she could make it out of the apartment, and a search turned up a plastic bag containing 60 grams of crack cocaine and 14 grams of heroin, the MDEA said in a written news release.
Rembert was taken to Cumberland County Jail in Portland on charges of aggravated trafficking in heroin, aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine and violating bail conditions, and is being held without bail.
Police obtained a warrant to search the apartment and found digital scales and packaging material. Police say more charges are expected.
Police ask that if people have information about the sale of illegal drugs, they should call the MDEA tip line at (800) 452-6457.
