BRUNSWICK — Harriet Marion York, 80, died peacefully on Jan. 26, 2015, after a long illness at Horizons Nursing Home in Brunswick. She spent her final days surrounded by family.

Harriet was born on Nov. 26, 1934, in Phippsburg. She was the eldest of ten children born to Jerry and Hazel Wallace.

In December 1958, she married Robert York. They made their home in Phippsburg.

Harriet was an avid golfer. She played in many tournaments and was five-time club champion at Brunswick Golf Club. She enjoyed gardening, searching for old bottles and loved spending time with her family and friends. She was also an excellent cook and baker and will be remembered for her fish chowder and biscuits.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert York; and two brothers, Joseph Wallace and Jerry Wallace.

Harriet is survived by two sons, Robert York and his wife Beth of Orr’s Island, and Paul York of Camden. She is also survived by five sisters, Grace Moore, Janet Wyman (Phillip), Natalie Alexander (Henry), Sandra Anderson and Jean Wallace; two brothers, Gary Wallace and Kevin Wallace; and four grandchildren, Benjamin and Margaret York of Orr’s Island and Kaitlyn and Karrah York of Camden.

Arrangements are being handled by David E. Desmond & Son Funeral Home, Bath.

A graveside service will be held at Morningside Cemetery, Phippsburg, in the spring of 2015.
