After recently announcing a new location in Westbrook, a maker of gourmet chocolate truffles, Black Dinah Chocolatiers, will open a “pop-up” store for Valentine’s Day.
According to a press release from the company Friday, the store will be open Friday, Feb. 13 and Saturday, Feb. 14 from noon – 6 p.m. at 869 Main St. in Westbrook, where they’ll offer Valentine’s Day specials as well as their regular collection of chocolates.
Based on Isle au Haut in Down East Maine since 2007, Black Dinah has won numerous food awards, and as a result, has seen increased demand. Owners Steve and Kate Shaffer said recently that the increased production necessitated a move to a more centralized location.
The Shaffers intend to use the space in the Edwards Block mostly for production and distribution of their products, but will also have a small space for retail.
Isle au Haut is a somewhat remote fishing community, part of Acadia National Park. The Shaffers also operate a Black Dinah cafe? in Blue Hill, and the owners plan to keep both the Isle au Haut and Blue Hill locations open.
