Pownal selectmen will meet Mondays, Feb. 9 and 23, at 7 p.m., in Mallett Hall.

The Solid Waste Committee will meet Monday, Feb. 9, at 6 p.m., in Mallett Hall.

Pownal Planning Board workshops have been scheduled for two Wednesdays, Feb. 11 and 25, at 8 a.m., in Mallett Hall. The board will continue its ongoing ordinance review/updating.

Coffee mug sales aid Project Graduation

Freeport High School Project Graduation is selling Dunkin’ Donuts Community Mugs. Those who buy a coffee mug for $20 can bring it into any neighborhood Dunkin’ Donuts in Maine and Coos and Carroll counties in New Hampshire and receive a free hot or iced coffee each Sunday. Outdoor dates with Royal River Conservation Trust

Royal River Conservation Trust’s Rain or Shine Club meets Thursday, Jan. 29, at 10 a.m., at Tryon Fields, Tryon Mountain trail-head on Lawrence Road, Pownal. With the right conditions, participants will be sledding with kids on the beautiful fields along Chandler Brook, after a short trek to get there. With no snow for sledding, members will show the emerging trails on conserved land along Chandler Brook. Those who attend should dress warmly and bring good, sturdy boots.

On Thursday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m., the site is Chandler Brook Preserve, North Road in North Yarmouth. This town-owned preserve features expansive meadows, unique floodplain communities and a couple miles of easy, rolling trails

On Thursday, Feb. 12, at 10 a.m., the site is Sandy Point Beach, Cousins Island, Yarmouth.

The trails begin at the beach. Park and meet under the big power transmission line just over the bridge to the left on Cousins Island and explore as a group some or all of the beach, West Side Trail and Camp SOCI.

Food pantry on Wednesdays

The North Pownal United Methodist Church food Pantry on 851 Lawrence Road is now open every Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. The pantry never knows from week to week what it will be getting. If any farmers or others would like to donate to the pantry, contact the Rev. Ray St. Pierre, 837-0682, or Deb Larrabee, 240-1637. The pantry helps those in need and welcomes everyone.

Men’s breakfast at church

The First Parish Church of Pownal hosts a men’s breakfast the first Saturday of each month at 7:30 a.m., open to any men who want to come. The Rev. John Wentworth leads the discussions.

Church services

North Pownal United Methodist Church worship service is Sunday at 9 a.m. Sunday School for children and adults is at 10:30 am. All are welcome. The Rev. Raymond St. Pierre is pastor. His hours are Wednesdays from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Thursdays by appointment. The church phone is 688-4938. For more information, call St. Pierre at 837-0682.
