Restaurants on board with Winter West

When Westbrook Winter West resumes Saturday, Jan. 17, with a family skate night starting at 5:30 p.m., in Riverbank Park, downtown restaurants will also take part in the festivities. Here is a listing of participating restaurants and their special offers:

The Dancing Elephant: Extended happy hour from 1-7 p.m. and live music.

Fajita Grill: Fajita Taco Salad, $6.25; well drinks, $5.99.

The Frog and Turtle: Winter West drink.

Portland Pie Co.: Half price wings and $3 Shipyards to all festival attendees.

On Friday night, Jan. 16, there will also be live music at The Dancing Elephant and The Frog and Turtle, and an Acoustic Showdown at Skybox.

Woman’s club to meet

Marian Sturtevant has announced that Westbrook Woman’s Club will meet at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 20, in Westbrook-Warren Congregational Church, 810 Main St. Pam Payeur of the Wounded Heroes Program of Maine will speak. Light refreshments will be served following the meeting.

Married 60 years

Martin and Germaine Grant from Westbrook celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at a dinner held in their honor at DiMillo’s Floating Restaurant on Nov. 22.

In attendance were Cynthia and Terry Grindle, Scott and Susan Grant, Brendan Grant, Sean Grant, Chelsea Grant, Anthony Gray, Martin Grant, Norm Boulay, Beth and Jerry Schinella, Abe and Arani Grindle, Caleb and Kate Grindle, and Luke, Michelle and Bradley Grindle.

95th birthday surprise

Westbrook native Ethelyn Chase was surprised with a 95th birthday party on Jan. 1. with all of her family attending to celebrate with her.

Those attending included her children, Linda Barrett and her husband Joe; Tim Chase and his wife Sue; and Pam Neptune. Her grandchildren are Jennifer Hughes and husband Greg; Colin Chase and his wife KJ, and their two children Kayleigh and Kaiden (great-grandchildren); Tyler Chase and Evan Chase; Stephanie Hackett and her husband Casey; and her great-grandson Josh Hughes and his wife Alex, and 13-month old William (great-great-grandson).

Jennifer Hughes is a staff member in the Guidance Department at Gorham High School.

Seniors to dine

Westbrook Senior Citizens will be served a meal at noon on Monday, Jan. 19, at Westbrook Community Center, 426 Bridge St.

Ann McAlpine, spokeswoman for the group, said the menu would include stuffed shells with spaghetti sauce, salad with Italian dressing, and apple pie.

Newt Curtis with Charlie will entertain.

McAlpine said Thursday, Feb. 12, is the deadline to register for the seniors’ trip to Ireland May 2-9. The seniors will see the Irish Cabaret at Venus de Milo in Massachusetts on Wednesday, March 11. For more information about the trips call 854-2705 or 883-5046.

Ledoux, Bacon plan September wedding

Jacqueline Ledoux of Bridgton, formerly of Westbrook, and Justin Bacon of Naples have recently announced their engagement.

Ledoux is the daughter of the late Jean and Marcelle Ledoux of Westbrook and is a 1980 graduate of Westbrook High School and a 1982 graduate of Casco Bay College. She is employed by Unum in Portland.

Bacon is the son of Rachel Bacon and the late Malcolm Bacon of Naples. He is a 1976 graduate of Lake Region High School and a 1977 graduate of SMVTI. He is employed by CR Tandberg in Windham.

The wedding is planned for September at Shawnee Peak in Bridgton.
