AARP Tax-Aide schedulers needed
In order to make sure that the thousands of seniors in the Greater Portland area who use the AARP Tax-Aide program each year have access to the help they need, AARP is looking for volunteer schedulers.
With the impact of the Affordable Care Act, as well as changes to the Property Tax Fairness Credit here in Maine, the demand for the Tax-Aide program will be greater than ever. To enable the program to run effectively and efficiently, appointment schedulers are needed.
Appointment schedulers, who are critical members of the local AARP Tax-Aide team, are needed from mid-January through April 15. Schedulers may volunteer for four hours or eight hours a week. All volunteers will be provided with a script to use when talking with and making appointments for taxpayers. Volunteers are also reimbursed for mileage.
AARP Tax-Aide is a national service of the AARP Foundation and is offered in conjunction with the Internal Revenue Service. The mission of the Tax-Aide program is to provide high-quality, free tax preparation and electronic filing of both federal and state income tax returns for low- and moderate-income senior taxpayers
