Standish lawyer Anthony Sineni, who made news earlier this week when the judge in his domestic violence case refused to allow the media to report on court proceedings, is in jail following his arrest at a school in Standish.
On Thursday, according to Capt. Don Goulet, the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office began investigating allegations that Sineni violated a protection from abuse order when he entered School Administrative District 6 schools for the purpose of seeing his children. The contact, which happened prior to Jan. 8, was a prohibited act within Sineni’s protection order.
On Friday, Jan. 9, at approximately 2:30 p.m., Sineni was arrested in the parking lot of the Edna Libby School in Standish. Sineni did not remove the children from the school at the time, Goulet said. He was transported to the Cumberland County Jail where he was charged with class D violation of protective order and class D violation of conditions of release.
Sineni is on a deferred disposition out of Portland Unified Court for assault and disorderly conduct. The conditions of release charge is based upon violating a condition of the deferred disposition.
By statute, Sineni is not eligible for bail, Goulet said. He will be arraigned in Portland Unified Court on Monday, Jan. 12.
