Portland police are investigating a report of an armed robbery Thursday night at the Nickelodeon Cinema on Temple Street.

Lt. Robert Ridge said a short, white male who was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt that was pulled over his face walked up to the cashier and demanded money. The suspect, who never waved or pointed the handgun at the employee, had the weapon tucked into his pants and pulled his shirt up to show the worker he was armed.

The robber ran off with an undisclosed amount of cash. No shots were fired.

Ridge said the robbery occurred around 10:15 p.m., when several late shows were still playing.
