PORTLAND (AP) — U.S. Sen. Angus King is getting ready to announce an initiative to improve civil legal assistance for veterans, with a focus on women.
The Independent senator and representatives from Pine Tree State Legal Assistance will unveil the initiative today at Portland City Hall at 1 p.m. King says the effort will assist in expanding StatesideLegal.org, a legal assistance website for military service people, veterans and their families.
King says the initiative is especially intended to serve female veterans. He says the initiative will help develop tools specifically for female veterans who are in need of civil legal assistance.
