
Gospel Light Fellowship
WEST BATH — Gospel Light Fellowship will celebrate the birth of Christ with a special choir program on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 10:30 a.m.
GLF Family Choir will offer “Singing Praise to the King” with a sign language presentation. The message is titled, “God Gave the Gift, Mary Wrapped the Gift, Will you receive the Life Changing Gift of Jesus?”
Nursery will be provided.

Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church
TOPSHAM — Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church is celebrating the Christmas season with a couple special services.
“Courage for Christmas” will be offered on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 5 p.m. Each year, people are expected to be joyful and merry, but sometimes it can be difficult to do so — whether it is anxiety, loss of a job, grief over a loved one, or any other challenge that shadows one’s celebration. Anyone who needs “courage for Christmas” is invited to take part in this simple service of prayers and passages of comfort.
A Christmas Eve candlelight and bells service is planned Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 5 p.m. Come join a traditional Lessons and Carols service, including a story for the children and a gift for them to open on Christmas day. Special guest singers and musicians make this a service not to be missed. Worshipers may bring bells to ring during the singing and should plan to rejoice as we anticipate the arrival of the Christ Child! Of course, there are extra bells to share and the service will end with the traditional singing of “Silent Night” by candlelight.

Unitarian-Universalist Church
BRUNSWICK — The Unitarian Universalist Church of Brunswick will offer a special service, “Songs and Stories of the Season,” on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m.
Stories about the different festivals of light will be featured in story and music: Solstice, Diwali, Hannukah, Christmas and Kwanzaa. One of the delights of the season is the performance of the “Intergenerational All- Church Orchestra,” made up of anyone in the church family who enjoys playing an instrument.
Ably conducted by Ross Miller, it promises enthusiastic holiday cheer. Nell Britton will accompany on the hymns. The Rev. Sylvia Stocker and Director of Religious Education Nicole Shanks and others will contemplate the amazing confluence of holidays of the season.
The church will also offer a special Christmas Eve service at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24. This will be the first Christmas Eve service in the new building.
The Rev. Stocker and Shanks will lead a service of carols, readings, reflections, and candle lighting.
Special music by the choir will be directed by Heidi Neufeld and accompanied by Nell Britton. In addition, there will be music by folksinger Jud Caswell and harpist Louise Gephart.

Popham Chapel
PHIPPSBURG — Follow the stars (and Route 209) to experience the peace on earth of Popham Village on Christmas Eve.
An old-fashioned candlelight service with carols, readings and the music of Richard Hankinson begins at 5 p.m. at Popham Chapel, officiated by the Rev. Ed McCartan. A reception follows at the Chapel House next door with warm beverages and homemade goodies.
All are welcome to attend the inter-denominational service on Wednesday, Dec. 24, at this “church for all people.”
Brunswick United Methodist Church
BRUNSWICK — The
Brunswick United Methodist Church offers the public a chance to re-enter the story that put the “Christ” in “Christmas,” as it offers three Christmas Eve services on Wednesday, Dec. 24.
The 4:30 p.m. service — “Come, Little Children” — is an early service especially for children and their families, with a participatory nativity scene and visit from the puppets.
At 7 p.m., the service looks at “Here is Hope, Here is Love, Here is Joy, Here is Peace.”
The final service, at 11 p.m., will include lessons and carols with a candlelit communion.

South Freeport Congregational Church
FREEPORT — South Freeport Congregational Church will hold two Christmas Eve services, at 7 and 10 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24.
Offering from the services will be donated to Oasis Health Network and Freeport Community Services Fuel Assistance Program.

Dresden-Richmond United Methodist Church
RICHMOND — The Dresden Richmond United Methodist Church is planning a special Christmas Eve service.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 6:30 p.m., there will be a candlelight service to celebrate the birth of the Christ Child.
The worship service time will change permanently on Sunday, Dec. 28, to 11 a.m. The young people will present a program during that service.
Day’s Ferry Congregational Church
WOOLWICH — Everyone is invited to be a part of Day’s Ferry Congregational Church’s annual “Come As You Are” Christmas pageant. “No rehearsals, no stress, just fun as we experience the meaning of the birth of Jesus to Mary and Joseph and all of us,” states a news release from the church.
Bring a willing and Christmas-y spirit and we will provide the costumes, the music, and the carols.
Whether you’ve ever been to Day’s Ferry or not, whether you are young or old or in-between, come and live the Biblical Christmas story in worship, prayer and song. Meet us at the manger at 10 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 21.
On Wednesday, Dec. 24, the church will hold its annual Christmas Eve service of lessons and carols at 5 p.m., led by the Rev. Alan Baughcum.
The service will feature music director Paul Althouse, soloist Roxane Althouse and “Carol of the Bells,” arranged for flutes and cello.

Wiscasset Church of the Nazarene
WISCASSET — The Sky Family of Prince Edward Island will be leading a Celtic Christmas on Sunday at Wiscasset Church of the Nazarene, on Sunday, Dec. 21, at 11 a.m.
The church is located at 255 Gardiner Road.
They’re a cross between the high intensity Irish step dance of Riverdance and good humor and fast paced Celtic fiddle music, mixed thoroughly with a blend of Gospel seasoning.
The Sky Family has toured from coast to coast in the U.S. and Canada for the last six years and their song “Blossom” is getting radio play.
The production consists of world class Irish dance combined with lively fiddle music and songs rich in harmonies. Woven throughout are humorous stories and inspirational testimonies. It is a great time for the whole family. Little ones to grandparents and all ages between are equally engaged in the high-stepping dance.
Each member performs on several instruments and all contribute to the rich vocal harmonies and dance. Hailing from the North Shore of Prince Edward Island they uniquely capture the Celtic influence of that region and now have the delight of sharing it with audiences from coast to coast.

BRUNSWICK — The season of Advent marks the beginning of a new liturgical year in the Roman Catholic Church. A season marked by anticipation and hope it is a good time for every Catholic, active or inactive, current or former, to experience Christ’s love in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
“The Light is ON for You” is an initiative of the Roman Catholic Church that highlights the importance of receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation (Penance/Confession), the source of God’s mercy and healing love, in the life of Catholics.
